Disciplinary Defence
Prepared defence for focused hearings
Complete preparation plus up to four hours of in-room representation, the right scale for single-allegation cases and conduct and capability hearings.
Why it works
What this gives you
Right-sized representation
Most disciplinary hearings conclude inside a morning or an afternoon. The half-day package delivers full preparation and advocacy without paying for hearing time you will not use.
Prepared, not improvised
The fee includes the defence build: evidence review, structured submissions and your preparation briefing before the day.
Your statutory companion
We attend under Section 10 ERA 1999, putting your case, summing up, responding on your behalf and conferring with you throughout.
Seamless escalation
If disclosure reveals a bigger case than expected, the package scales to the full-day tier with complete fee transparency.

Band A £1,150 rising by salary band to £2,275 at Band E. Preparation and attendance included in one fixed fee.
How salary-banded fees work
Fees are scaled to your gross annual salary: Band A (under £30,000), Band B (£30,000–£39,999), Band C (£40,000–£59,999), Band D (£60,000–£79,999) and Band E (£80,000+). Your exact fixed fee is confirmed in your Letter of Engagement before any work begins. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added: the fee quoted is the fee you pay.
| Salary band | Gross annual salary | Your fixed fee |
|---|---|---|
| Band A | Under £30,000 | £1,150 |
| Band B | £30,000 – £39,999 | £1,435 |
| Band C | £40,000 – £59,999 | £1,715 |
| Band D | £60,000 – £79,999 | £2,000 |

Your band is set by the gross annual salary you tell us. We do not ask you to evidence it. The figure above is the whole fee: no VAT, no hourly billing, and no charge for calls, emails or travel within Birmingham.

Frequently asked questions
For a single allegation with a modest evidence bundle, usually yes. We scope it honestly at the free consultation, and if your case genuinely needs a full day we will say so before you commit.
No. We represent at disciplinary and appeal hearings only, because that is where our expertise sits. The statutory right to be accompanied does extend to grievance hearings concerning a duty owed by your employer, so you can take a fellow worker or a union representative to one. Our guide to raising a grievance explains the process and what to expect.
We review the bundle, build the submission structure, prepare the points to be put on the evidence, and brief you on how the hearing will run and how to answer questions put to you directly.
